Cotoneaster
This is supposed to remind you of a coastal scene where trees are buffeted by strong winds on a sandstone outcrop, but still manage to survive, and prosper. That's my story anyway.

That looks 
always wondered how you water such bonsai? My bonsai in shallow trays quickly dry out and this doesn’t even have an edge. Love the story

I water this the same as all the others. The inorganic mix appears to hold plenty of moisture that the tree is able to access.
That branch is not a sacrifice branch, it shows the tree fighting back against the wind. Again, that is my story.

Would assume watering and drying out isn't an issue with coastal trees? Lots of sea spray, fog, extra moisture in the air? Hehe
