Time for a weird one - Ficus platypoda

Post by wattynine »

I stumbled across this trunk/root about ten years ago and simply thought it was weird as I have never seen any sort of fig grow simply straight with no taper whatsoever. As mentioned it was straight so the bend has come from me of course (whoever heard of a straight bonsai??)
I kept it in a garden pot for a heap of years and about 3 years ago began doing something with it as in bending and ROR.
This year I have concentrated on getting the leaf size down and developing a canopy. I am also, under the medium, developing a better nebari.
Probably never make a decent bonsai in the eyes of the viewers of this site but it was a fun project and somethin' weird came of it.
hope you enjoy, take a scoff or shake of your head on me, I've already admitted it's weird.
Watty
