Time to show off your figs (ficus)

Hi ken/boics/tony.

I am a huge fan of the powerful trunks and closer looking branch structures like the photos you have shown, and I do have a couple of little projects that will be going down that line, very much so.

But for this tree, I'm thinking that it is a visual representation of the original owner as she is a very leggy lady and isn't exactly what would be considered as normal, in terms of personality and the like. I am at the moment keeping this tree in a tray of gravel and water to try and encourage some areal roots, which are just starting to pop out now. Once I get some better roots happening, it will be getting a bigger pot, more suitable to the size of the tree.

Good idea to put as many in one place for viewing and inspiration. Here is a little cascade of mine.

About 300mm tall. F. Benji. Still deciding whether to make the back the front as the roots at the back are more interesting

Turn it around thoglette :tu: A little bit of worh required on the branches, but the back should definitely be the front IMO

Hey Ficusboy

Glad you started this mate. Some great stuff all in one place :hooray:

Yours looks like a serpent. Is that a very thick root or have you buried the trunk :?:

Keep it growing mate.

Tony

I have quite a few figs around here in different stages so took a photo of most today for your enjoyment
I am sure i missed some :crybye: :palm: :lost: but could probably find another 1/2 dozen or so small ones in Black plastic pots

All the smaller ones are in Bonsai Pots purely because the look better there, and so do not get Lost on the benches:-). Most are not ready to show or are anything liek presentable.

Yup, the branches will need re-doing. :-(

Actually under the soil is a twisted trunk that looked disgusting so I put it in a pot sideways going to throw the tree and the pot and I looked at it and it looked average so I potted it up and cut it back and I am
Towing to wait until it fills a bit more
