Re: Ficus thonningii
I gave this tree a trim today so I thought I'd post an update. Back in late November I defoliated and wired in preparation for summer. The hanging branch is pretty sparse in comparison to the top so I'm trying to make sure it gets plenty of light.
After today's trim and I'm happy with the way the apex is rounding off. I'd like the leaves to get smaller so I'll really keep on top of the trimming this summer. A few weeks ago I visited Janet Sabey and her thonningii's had much smaller leaves than mine so I'll have to pick her brain and see what her routine is. I also think I need to increase the fertiliser as the leaves could be darker.
Matt.
