I have recently picked up this fig and have looked at it for several days now and i am undecided which direction should be taken. Any advise would be helpful. :?

that will definately help mate, give it some legs to run and you will be rewarded with more growth than ya need ;)

do you have access to diatomite? use that straight or with a mix of soil to help soften it a little :D

Jamie i picked up a couple of bags a few weeks ago and potted a few PJ figs and Green Island figs but found it tricky to get them to settle in the mix over the mix i normally use. Is there a trick or am doing something wrong :?: I mixed the diatomite with a little bagged bonsai mix used your ratio 80% diatomite and 20% mix.

Here`s another idea for you to look at , I also think you could make a reasonable semi cascade. CHEERS ROD ........

no trick to it mate, just do it like you normally would, i do find i really need to work it into the roots, use a chopstick or similar, and just work it. i usually spend upwards of fifteen minutes working it in, then a good soaking and a little more working. then another soak. tap the sides of the pot aswell, that can help it settle.

nice V rod :D

Thanks mate
Yer if found if i wet the medium it seems to settle better than if it is dry.

PS. I always use a chop stick to get the medium were it needs to be.

yep, i found given them a good watering helps to settle it with any mix.

the fig will love it in diatomite, it creates a sweet micro climate for the tree ;)
