Purple Flowered Accent Plant

Post by MJL »

Hi All,

This is perhaps a question for our QLD members but does anyone know what this plant is please. It was given to my step-dad by a Bonsai grower in the Samford Valley, QLD.

It is proliferous self-seeder, is quite happy wet and is happy in dappled light.

Any thoughts? I think it is a lovely accent plant.

Cheers,

Mark

It's an annual I call Johnny Jump up...in the Viola family.

Probably why it's called Johnny Jump Ups....keep popping up when you're trying to get rid of them!

I think that looks more like Japanese Violet. It has exploding seed pods and does become a weed. It took quite a few years to get rid of it here.
