[SOLVED] needed please.

With the great wealth of knowledge many of you have on this forum, I am hoping that someone is able to ID these for me.

This tree was going to be thrown but was given to me along with a few Japanese maples.

If this is Sweet Pittostrium and im pretty sure it is. The only good thing you are ever gonna see out of it is that root spread. In my quick experience with it in my 1st year of bonsai. I decided it will not make a good bonsai small, medium, large or otherwise. The growth is just too course. Thats my scoop on it, you do what ya gotta do. ;) 8-)

Thanks for the ID.
Will it grow back if I cut it back hard?

Ant is right with the i.d. The scientific name is Pittosporum undulatum. They are native weeds of sandy soils.

Could be worth a go. But you should be able to find a larger one to dig up somewhere. As stated, they shoot back very well. Just be careful with the sap. Its sticky, it smells, and its water proof. Dont use your good tools on it or be prepared to scrub afterwards!

Thanks for the input.
I will repot it at the start of spring and cut it back hard and see how it goes.
