Wow my second, second place. Can't wait till next year. Thanks Kindly to Steven, Mods and all the judges.
I would love to see some scores or get some comments from the judges on my entries but wonder on the logistics. Unless prompted otherwise I guess we just PM the judges and hope they are not over run with PM's :?:
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Congratulations EVERYONE ... especially those Winners (awardees) :hooray: :hooray: a great display of AUSSIE trees :flag:

Sorry to disappoint Steven, I was one of those who had below standard presentation :palm: I new I was just making up the numbers (as I don't own a 'finished' native bonsai ... yet) but just wanted to contribute anyway. I will try to get both tree (and pot :palm: ) and presentation improved for next years showdown!

Thanks to all JUDGES for finding the time to filter through and find the BEST Ausbonsai has to offer :worship:

Ryan
Cheers, Ryan

I would like to thank AusBonsai and the judges for giving me the opportunity to enter the competition and awarding my tree second place. I think the contest is a great way for bonsai enthusiasts to show their skill and their trees. Thanks again for this honour. Paul

Congratulations to all contributors.

One of my most valued elements of Australian character is our distain for conservative authority.

Our global bonsai culture is largely influenced by a follower mindset that shuns originality.

Creativity demands risk taking.

Pup, Tony and I evaluate entries through our own individual prejudices.

I hope we have done justice to the entries.

Congrats to all winners, esp PeterH, Luckily the voting was done over the net, cause that tree weighs a tonne (well almost) Very glad to have been able to touch a winner! :worship:
So the Redwood turns to the Bonsai and says "Lend me a Tenner"......

Congratulations to all those who entered trees in the Native Bonsai Awards for 2011, to the awardees, and to Steven and the judges for all their good work!

It's excellent to see so many trees with a real Australian look!

The Leptospermum polygalifolium which won the peoples choice award is one splendid example.

I would be interested to see the spread of votes for the peoples choice (18% for the Leptospermum......one vote of which I must admit, was mine!).

At our local club's bonsai exhibition last year, we had members of the public vote for their top three favourite bonsais (a mix of exotic and native species), and out of just over 50 exhibits, 35 gained either a 1st, 2nd or 3rd vote! I was astounded, (and delighted) as it indicated such a broad taste, and one could add, delight in our presentation!

Australia has such a wonderful flora, and it's excellent to see so many folks enjoying it, studying it and then representing it in miniature.

Well done all.

I have been away but also want to add my congrats to the winners, also to all the participants who entered. Not a bad effort for a competition and a website that runs totally on passion for Bonsai.

Steven, I received my prize today and was really truly impressed and humbled. Thankyou to Steven, to the donators of prizes and to the judges. As soon as I have a living display ready with my teeny handmade rosewood display table and handmade pot I will post an image here on ausbonsai. It is such a pleasure to be involved. regards Ash
