Port Jackson fig

Post by jonathon_p »

I bought this fig for $14 in bad shape at a Sydney nursery. Saw the trunk line and thought it might have some potential as a small tree.
I understand it's not the greatest time to repot figs - but I couldn't wait and it was in quite bad shape
The small amount of soil it did have in the pot was full of worms, and the foliage had scale all over it.

It is 14cm from the soil

Your fig will be OK if you keep an eye on the soil.
Don't water again until soil dries a little. Too wet is bad, too dry not good either.
Put it outside to recover and full sun if possible.
Don't fertilize any time soon. At least 6 weeks

And more importantly, get yourself to Bonsai World in Jilliby to buy your next fig. You wont be disappointed.

My best Moreton Bay Fig came from these guys.
Actually, my best Banksia did too.
.... And so too did my one of my favourite Casuarinas.

I style Bonsai naturally, just as they would appear in the wild.
