but seriously, whats wrong with having these competitions on going, not just one class of bonsai, but a few comps at the same time,,, any one out there want to do another shohin comp?
What's wrong with that idea? Just that it might make a lot more work for Steven & moderators, and people would get tired of it after a while. The excitement of a competition is partly caused by the fact that it is an occasional, outstanding event.
I'd love to see all the shohin entereed here in another year's time, though, including those that were eliminated but are still alive.

Lisa
Hah Fex, You sticking you hand up to Setup the next one? :D Steven will like the help

Lisa has it right on all counts, but it it aint so much work, but the beauty of them is that they are not too onerous on the participants and they need to keep the interest up.
Just have a look at the number of trees that did not make each 3 month cut without being withdrawn by the owner. Quite a few lost the way during the 14 months.

totally agree with you lisa, I want to see another photo of these trees ( including those that were withdrawn) in another 12 months. Many more of them shoud be much better then

Congrats guys! Some really good stuff in the comp. I keep adding shohin to my own collection. On that, has anybody out there tried beheading larch above the first low branch? if you repeat that a few years running, you won't believe the little charmers!

Best .. Peter

I agree, I think the 12 month thing is a great idea to see how all the trees have progressed. Additionally I agree with competitions being limited as it tends to give the event more significance where our focus is directed on somthing tht we may all not usually do :tu:

Cheers

Thanks for running a great comp. I have come on board to late to enter the comp but have really enjoyed the journeys that these trees have taken. I have been so inspired about what is possible in such a short amount of time with such a wide range of trees.

Would love to be part of the next comp (when ever it happens, hopefully not to far away)

Congratulations to all those who made it to the voting part of the comp, well done.

There ceratinly are some surprises once you hit the vote button, which is great to see. There are some absolutely fantastic results on show, considering the difficulty with some of the subject plant material chosen. Well done once again everyone.
