I'm a bit baffled by this one. I haven't fertilized or given any of my trees much attention, other than watering, since December. In that time we went away on holidays and moved house. All my trees have had an explosion of growth and are going gangbusters. All I can put it down to is the location at the new house, it works!

This one has slowed down now, must get back into a regular fertilizing regime again. Have taken the wire off and letting it have a little rest before the next phase of work begins.

Gardenias in my opinion make great bonsai but can I suggest a smaller pot for this specimen?

That's part of the plan, this pot was one I had so I'm using it as a training pot for now.

Wow! 14 months has really gone by pretty quickly. For me this competition was about reigniting the bonsai bug and having some fun along the way. It has succeeded on both counts.

My tree still has some developing to do, it has two possible fronts that I can't quite decide upon, the branches need more ramifying and the apex needs to fill out some more, all possible over time. I've had a little play with some possible other pots to see what worked.
