[Tony Bebb] - Willow Leaf Fig ★ ★ ★

Post by Tony Bebb »

8.11 (10) (Medium).JPG
Willow Leaf Fig (ficus nerifolia) originally 35-40cm before the trunk chop last year. Cost me nothing as it was one of a few cuttings put down about 6 or 7 years ago and has been one of that group of trees that sit there waiting for something to happen. Gave it a trunk chop last year as it's time had come.

Very bamboo like, the willow leaf ficus :o

Gave this one a prune on the weekend also.
WLF Mar 2012 (1) (Medium).JPG
The growth on the ends is good enough and the wire is just starting to mark the branches at the base.
WLF Mar 2012 (2) (Medium).JPG
The bark is just developing on these branches and the scarring should grow out well.
WLF Mar 2012 (3) (Medium).JPG
A couple of branches removed and the top left alone. I have finger bent the branches to keep them flatter to get better foliage layers when it grows.

Geez I missed this comment Bretts. It is a bugger cause I didn't realise. Thought all three were good, but this one posted earlier. I still got one in cheeky bugger. ;)

Time to let it grow through the winter. All the shoots left on are wanted ones and will grow well in spring.

It would have been a real contenter Tony  i doubt I could have betterd this one no matter how much DL and UV's I threw at it :shifty:

Your comment gave me a fresh laugh today as I saw the reference to me in the buxus thread and I had no idea what it was about. Then I started wondering why everyone was updating thier shohin trees and it dawned on me I better check if an update was due.

I could have easily missed mine and been in the same boat  :palm:

Even though I made a technical error that saw this one excluded, it has been good to keep up the work on this tree and finally make it a Bonsai. So here is the end of this one as well.
