[Tony Bebb]-Dead - Juniper squamata

Post by Tony Bebb »

8.11 (11) (Medium).JPG
Japanese juniper ( juniper squamata prostrata ) This one cost nothing also and is a self-layered branch that I planted for the hell if it, with a view towards a raft. That must have been 8 years ago and it has been waiting for it's time. Not even sure what's under the soil as it hasn't had a repot for a while. Probably end up more connected root than raft. Will post a new pick as soon as it is cleaned after start date.

Finally got into it today.

Took a while to start this one because I knew it would take a while to do the first step of root pruning and sorting out trunks. It is kinda busy and has not been root pruned for 7 or 8 years.

A considerable amount of back shooting will be required, but not too many branches will be required on most trunks. There are 9 trunks for now, but I may reduce that to 7 yet as it is a little busy on the right.

How do you like it so far Lisa? (and everybody else)

SUPER! It looks even better than I had imagined it could be when you posted it first time. Have you got a pot for it?

Woops!

Appears the root work was too much for the tree. In hindsight I should have put it in a deeper pot to protect the roots more. I new what I did was risky, and used seasol to soak the roots to give the best chance, but not to be. The 2 off cuts haven't made it either. That's what I get for letting the roots get so bad in the first place. :palm:

Christ Tony, killing a squamata mate? Now that is bad luck :o
