I really like what you have achieved here Craig, in my opinion we are all winners.
Inspired to have a go :tu2:
Q: Why are we all here?
A: Because we are not all there.

The reason for these Competitions, is to encourage every one who enters to lift, their standard so that we all improve as Bonsai Artist. So our trees become much better.

That we as a Bonsai community benefit, so it is a win win situation.

Remember if your tree is not up to it, improve it so it is a better tree, do not say ah!! well, and leave it at that.

The reason I post my trees on this forum is to show what can be achieved, if we really try to understand what our peers try to teach us.

So coocarch try to lift and Gerard well put.

Just my :2c: Pup
Ps no put downs or any other thing is meant by what I have written :reading:
IN THE LIGHT OF KNOWLEDGE ATTAINED, ACHIEVEMENT IS WITHIN SIGHT

Gerard , your so right mate. I don't understand the mentality of people saying they don't have a chance, i do not enter to win but to show what can be achieved within a short period of time. I will however go all out in an attempt to show my tree to the best of it's/my abilities, which is why i get pots hand made and spend alot of time on my trees. Thankyou Gerard, good luck with your entries mate

Same here :-)
Same reason I put trees on show at events like the Easter show too :-). Extend yourself and put yourself out of the comfort zone to try and improve :-)

This is going to be my last summary before the final pics/posting at the end.

I only collected this tree not long prior to entering it in the comp, it has grown extremely well and responded to my methods of training. The thing i like about this tree is the character in the trunk, it has small areas of deadwood and the new foliage colour is awesome.
The design i chose was a relatively simple one and in all honesty i didn't know if it was achievable at all ,never mind in 14 months.

I have received alot of feedback and some great ideas along the way, i have tried to incorporate peoples thoughts into my tree and grow it as a true represenation of a Melaleuca preissiana that grows naturally.

Tonight i have spent several hours working the tree. I have fully rewired again and brought the trees overall height down to only 190 mm and the trunk is 65mm wide . This give the tree a 1 to 3 trunk/height ratio . The jin is completely gone now aswell .

The pots are on thier way over and i'll repot in due course.

thanks to everyone who has commented, much appreciated and yes it has helped ,

I will post pics either tomorrow or next day and then i intend on submitting my final entry as a 360 degree,,, good luck all,,

This tree is looking great Craig...it sure has come a long way in a short time!
Looking forward to see the progress you have made from the pics in early Feb as they looked really good :tu2:
It will be interesting to see the tree without the jin.
Cheers, Dario.
