[DK] Flowering Pomegranate - Entry 3

Post by kvan64 »

I would like to enter this one as a replacement entry for my crab apple entry.
This stump was collected about 15 months ago and I never had time to carve/work on it. Initially it had very little to none root system as it was meant to be dug up and thrown away.
It had 3 main trunk but was chopped down to the bare stump.
Base size is a bout 15 cm
Edit: rotate image

Here is my first try with carving. It's harder than I thought with this species. The dead wood is hard and the young shoots are too brittle. I've broken a few branches so decided to stop for now. Maybe will work with the branches first and wait till the shoots/leaves are more harden then I will continue to carve.

Just found out that it ...flowered! There are only 2 flowers. The first one has finished and shrunk and the little one at the back just started. The colour is nice and the flowers are not too big and are multiple petals. It should look nice next year when styling has finished and IF there are flowers/fruits :fc:

Some small updates for this one. The trunk shaping up well but ramification seems slow.

Antt my neighbour got a huge one. About 50cm at the base (multi-trunk though). If you want it you may have to visit him ...at night with a shovel ...or a bobcat
