This is the 2nd posting of photos of the Kingsville boxwood.
View 1: Shows the structure of the plant before pruning.
View 2: The lowest right branch has been pruned off.
View 3: Photo showing the scar(white patch) of the branch just pruned off.
View 4: Photo showing the scar(small white patch) of the smaller branch pruned off (above the bigger scar).
View 5: Aerial root pruned off. Also some pruning of interior branches.
View 6: There are 2 big aerial roots still attached to the main stem. One is on the left of the main stem and close to the earth(shown in the photo), and the other is at the back and can be seen in photo 002Kingsville box.
013Kingsville box (Front): The plant has been pruned and shaped and potted into the bonsai pot as shown. This is the only pot that I have at the moment that is suited for the plant . Later on in the year I will try to get a more suitable pot for it. I have done quite a bit of pruning and wiring since 'view 6' and am quite satisfied with the shape for the time being. Now it is a matter of 'wait and see' how it grows and whether I will retain its shape or maybe more drastic pruning. The last 3 photos show the other views of the plant as indicated.

Hi Michael, this is looking very nice, and the health is great. You have already said you are looking for a better pot.
This is the one thing that is letting it down.
Other wise I would say post it over mate

Very nice, Pup

Very nice, Pup

Thanks Pup for the encouraging comment. The pot is just meant to be a training pot. It will be changed before November 2012, probably in early spring next year (early September). The plant was in a much deeper plastic garden pot with roots growing right down to the bottom of the pot and to suddenly prune most of the roots to fit into a shohin pot could be detrimental to its health. Hence the relatively deep training pot.

Thanks 'Jester'. Please don't be sorry as any comment that you make is very welcome. We should enjoy our 'Ups" and learn from our "Downs". Anyway it is a training pot.

Thanks Scott. Well....I suppose you can say that provided the original plant has more than sufficient branching to choose from. It makes styling a bit easier and considering we have a limited time period to do it in.

One of the things that is hard as a new comer to Bonsai is knowing what is good and what is not. It seems this time my "wow that's awesome" has been backed up by someone with experience :D

First 3-monthly posting (December)
Since I styled this 3 months ago, it has grown quite a number of new shoots. I have been cutting back the shoots to one or two leaves trying to maintain the shape of the plant. I will be doing this for the rest of the year until spring next September 2012. By then, it should be ready to go into its final pot which I have ordered from P. Kennedy.

To those who might not have noticed, there is a plastic mesh on top of the soil. The idea is to prevent a certain little black bird from digging up the soil which it has been doing regularly each year to my other bonsai plants. Since putting the mesh on, the bird has left it alone. Am I the only one having this problem? Just my bad luck.

This new posting of the plant showed the growth of the branches and leaves. Although it is not so obvious at first glance, when compared to the last take, one can notice differences in the shape and leaf placements. I am leaving it to grow without redesigning it until the next posting. It is the middle of autumn here in Canberra and we had 3 degree Celsius last night. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 2 - 6 degrees Celsius for the week with the maximum around probable 16 - 18 degrees. The growth of most plants has been reduced and I do not expect to see much in this Kingsville box especially since even in summer it is a slow grower. The next posting will see it in a new bonsai pot after pruning.

I'm pretty sure Michael exhibited this tree at the recent CBS show. It is looking really good, my favourite of the show!

Thanks Scott for your very positive comments. I did exhibit it at the CBS exhibition this year. I thought it has reached its final stage and was looking quite good so I decided to share it with the members and public. It is in its final pot.
