Hi all,

I have recently repotted this tree and thought I best give it an update.

Andrew, that branch is quite heavy for the area, but I don't mind it hehe. I have put some movement in it as it was a little straight.

Just found this thread.... [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES] nice work David. What is your main reason for dedoliating? I know it reduces leave size but any other reason?

You also mentioned that you may have stressed the tree dur to defoliating at the wrong time. When should you have done it?

Hi Homer,

The main reason at this stage for Defoliation is to increase ramification, the leaf size is secondary at the moment.

Defoliation is best done at the optimal time, for those ficus that enjoy it (not everyone does) is when the night temps are 15-18 degrees or above as frost damages new growth.

Do you think over time that the thick upper branch will cause problems... Swelling at top of tree?
