Cute! When you put it in a small pot and develop the branches...it will be super dupper!

My 1st January 2014 to 31st March 2014 update:

Basically did a repotting, readjusted the tree and placed in what should be the final position.

The tree was starting to get into an new growth cycle, and most of the energy was once more going in the apex.
I decided to partially defoliate the apex to:
1. Force the lower branches to grow more
2. Allow light to get to the inner structures to try to stimulate new growth/buds lower down.
3. To also check on the structure

Upper growth I want to limit
Image

Lower areas I wish to promote
Image

Partially defoliated the tree.
Removed the foliage on the apex but kept the lower areas.
Image

I want more growth on the left area, but the branch on the right seems to be taking in most of the lower growth.
So I decided to remove it to give the left side more growth opportunities.

Final look for now:

Here's a little update on this one:

I finally got around last month to remove the plastic covering the roots.

Followed by some basic wiring to reposition the branches.

I decided to do some wiring on the apex and give a basic shape

I also had to remove previously placed wires.

I found a "gourmand" or "epicormic shoot" after some weeks. Pretty much at the wrong place.
If it was at a different position with some potential to become a future branch, I would have wired it, but it was growing just next to a lower major branch, so I had to remove it.

Image

And more recently I burned some steps and when ahead an repotted it into its "Final" pot.
I had the pot for several months now, and was planning to do the repotting AFTER the competition was over, but I just felt like I had to give it a try.
I'll most likely repot it back into a training pot after the competition.

Hi Xavier
Can you post the photos direct to Ausbonsai rather than linking to offsite?
They cannot be expanded when you do that, and if the other site changes the links will be broken.

I decided to create a gallery for this entry : gallery/album.php?album_id=564

And the pictures were taken from the individual pages : ex. gallery/image_page.php?album_id=564&image_id=2916

The Image BBCode section.
Any help plz

I think the images are treated as a off site gallery and thus do not get resized when they are opened.
Have no idea how you would work around that exept just link direct to the gallery. The problem with that is there is no way to add discusion notes around the images

I would only ever add 1 or to images to each competition post anyway as there is no need to detail to that depth.
Using the gallery is a great idea though for all your trees.
