did not see this before, but raffia I get at a large nursery here.
Anyone big one should stock it

took an update today while pottering
I have thought about the back lower branch and will be keeping it for the foreseeable future. It will help thicken the lower trunk while there :-)

Josh.
it will need to be on for 2 years at least to ensure it does not open out again.
I will remove the thick wire and the Raffia before the final comp photos, and then wire it again with smaller wire so it is not as obvious, That wire will stay for the 2 years to set.

I did not have time today to get the raffia off, maybe tomorrow :fc:
If not then these will be the final photos.

The tree has powered on and is covered with new growth on the tips of the foliage. The Juvenile foliage is being replaced with Adult foliage so it must be happy. The severe bending did not upset the tree at all.
This tree has taught me a lot about what can be done with younger specimens of Junipers so if nothing else it has bee very worth while.

I will remove the remaining wire and raffia, and rewire with smaller diameter wire and then leave for the next 2 years.
The foliage will fill out more, but the outline of the tree will remain as is.

An update today on this tree.
The foliage pads are filling out and maturing so is getting there.
I took the wire and raffia off in Jan I think and gave it a light repot. As you can see the bends have opened up a little, so i think they need to be pulled in again at the next repot.
the next repot it will be tilted a little to the left to bring the apex back over the base and to remove the vertical out of the pot trunk section.

Sorry Bodhi, I neglected to wipe down the pot before photo shoot, but as they are a just a quick snap between downpours I hope I am forgiven :crybye:
Hones I do clean them before displaying

Of course :-)

Grabbed a quick photo last weekend.
I have pulled the first bend a little tighter with a wire twist and the next repot will get tilted to the left to avoid the trunk coming straight up out of the ground like it si doing now, this will also bring the apex back over the top of the trunk base.

How long did you leave the raffia on KC? I finished mine a couple of weeks ago but have no idea how long to leave it on... Thanks in advance.
