As it stands,
This was the front, but most of the growth is at the back:
This might end up being the front:
It'll be another few weeks before repotting - still cold here. The pot will be too large this year, smaller next year.

Re: [GavinG] Berberis "Little Favourite"
No flowers yet. Not sure why they're not grown, they can get some good strong trunks in the ground, and they're tough. Just not Fashionable Darling. (And a tad vicious with the barbs.)

Re: [GavinG] Berberis "Little Favourite"
FINAL SUBMISSION:
This is how it is now, still over-potted, and with little branch structure yet. I expect to spend at least five years building branches:
This is more the proportion of pot that I will be aiming for:
Here it is with a ruler,
a battery for scale,
headphones,
and an upright grand piano, in proportion.
Thanks to those who set this up, and to those who contributed.

[GavinG]
This the original Berberis "Little Favourite" as I bought it, Aug. 2011.
This is the bend at the base that interested me:
And this was the result in October 2012:
Here it is today - none of the branches that I wanted at the front grew, most of the growth was at the back, despite pinching them back repeatedly in spring and summer.
The plan of action is to repot into a shallower pot, better in proportion with the trunk, and get some growth on the front branch beginnings. Or totally revamp it. Not sure.
