Acer buergerianum
Current height 630mm
Grown from seed
Rock was a local find from a farm property.
Cost zilch.
Pot is made by me.
Having a neighbor's Trident maple scatter seeds all over my yard this could have been a self seeded sapling or one I planted myself I would have no way to remember. The sapling was tied over the rock and planted in the ground for one or two years? I lifted the tree last spring and trunk chopped it. Just let it grow this season. it looks to only be marginally affected by the trident leaf curl so we will see how it goes next season when it has to deal with a little stress in styling/refining.
Oh and I think a nice broom silhouette will be the go.

This has had more removed of the trunk and branches wired. Still a long way to go. If the Fungus doesn't have it's way it could be a nice tree one day.

Bretts,
I shall watch this with interest!
Can You elaborate a bit on the fungus bit? I have few maples and would like to know what I should be careful about.

I ask lots of questions that sound like suggestions. Please remember I am a inquisitive newbie trying to figure out why You made a particular decision, in order to learn.
