• Species name Casuarina
• Original height of stock 1m
• Where you obtained it from: Bought as a tiny cutting from Council nursery
• Cost of stock $1
My dog broke the top...and it has no movement what so ever so after I took the picture I chopped it up.

As you can see I trunk chopped it. It has shot and it looking nice and bushy. Need to identify a leader and one branch and grow it, but for now I am not chopping anything till it thickens the trunk and the leader is nice and thick.
Apparently casuarina is one of the most susceptible plants to rot. No shari or jin should be done on it, or the rot can progress and only cambium left.
Budi posted a casuarina on IBF, that has only the cambium left, and he said he tried all kind of preservatives with it.

Every thing has grown a lot while I was away. The sacrifice branch of the casuarina has grown thicker than the main trunk. I chopped it short. I shall see if I will keep it as a second trunk or take it off later.
For now I cleaned it and did a branch selection, suitable for both options..
This is how it looked before I massacred it.

With shoots that have not lignified, you can twist the tips off and expect back budding. I usually go for the 3rd or 4th node. If you're looking for more thickness, you can use scissors, expect a little die back to the previous node so leave a bit of room. You are doing well Neli, just keep it up and you will see results

Jeremy

Thank You Darling.
I had a lot of die back...and I think I overdid the chopping...since I had die back. I shall have to figure it one day, but for now it looks hopeless to me. And despite the fact that I add acid in the water it looks like it is getting chlorosis.
