Hi All,

A quick and rather boring update for this one and apologies for the poor lighting in the photos in advance. Here it is with this mornings SMH;

The intention with this one is to leave it alone until early spring before doing any work on it, I will stick to the prescribed optimal times for any work on this. It could be the Ying to PJF#2's Yang......

This will be placed alongside PJF#2 in direct sunlight and be left untouched until early spring. I am looking forward to seeing if there is much or any difference on how this one will react to spring work in comparison to PJF#2.

Time for an update on this as I gave it an overhaul today to hopefully get some direction into it.

*cut back and barerooted. Spagnum moss was placed around the base and then covered around with a bit of bike tubing. Wire is on there holding it in place, hoping that some roots that are coming down an inch about the intended soil line, will eventually sit closer to the trunk and in a few years hopefully fuse.

*Ready to go into a tub where it will now sit for a while. Standard large bic lighter for a size reference.

*Getting comfortable in its new tub, instead of using my diatomite mix I have substituted the diatomite with 2-4mm scoria.

*how it sits now all tucked in.

I need to add spagnum moss to the surface and put a lid on it to increase the humidity from now until it warms up. Should be fun to see how this responds.

HI all,

A quick update, it took it's time to put out new shoots but it is finally starting to get going, only just. I'm guessing the delay in reponse for shooting was due to a lack of humidity as I didn't bother putting spagnum on the surface, nor did I give it a plastic cover.

Hi all,

Time to update this boring little one.

Out of my four entries, this one is the odd one out (was going to say "Black Sheep" of the bunch, but thought against it in todays overly politically correct society.....) as it has certainly been under performing in comparison to the others but all is not lost, perhaps more of a long term project that an immediate one.

Anyways, here it is Dec 23 with before and after shots,

Once its completely refoliated I will started to over feed it and see if that can spur things along a little, if not it will be one that will hopefully come into its own in the refine comp next time around.

Hi all,

Just a quick update on this one, I repotted it yesterday into a spare pot I had lying about. Nothing much has changed with it although I did rewire it. I will build it a sweatbox and defoliate it in a couple of weeks in an attempt to push it in the sprint to the finish line, although I think that it will still be looking just as immature as it is now come then. In the coming years I think it could make a cute little tree, but it was always going to struggle to get it to look anything remotely okay within the time frame of the comp.

Hi all,

Final Submission for this one.

This one was always going to struggle from the get go. I chose to hold off doing initial works on it with cutting back later than the previous two Port Jackson Fig cutting entries. Its one that will be an ongoing work as it might end up taking a completely different path, but time will tell for it.

The intention with this is to push it, let it grow till mid summer, second defoliation and then feed up with constant tip pruning until next summer. See where it sits and then address the future direction of it.
