Re: [matlea] juniper
Well a bit of an update on this guy,
After some thought and inspiration from some past magazine articles I decided to give this one the bends (have actually tightened some of the bends further since pic was taken)
I gave the thicker part of the trunk a split (a first) and wrapped and wired the rest.... and then twist and bend!
Also made some cuttings from the trimmed areas (hope they take root)
I am thinking of introducing some dead wood to the right branches and will let these extend and grow at will.
Planting angle may also rotate as shown by the stick position... will see
Anyhow thats it on this one for now

Re: [Not Updated}[matlea] juniper
Even though I'm not in the running with this one, I thought I would give it an update.
From the last update I fed and let it grow and tweaked some of the wiring. It seems to have grown well to date.
I have trimmed the foliage off the areas where I plan to introduce dead wood and will let these areas grow, extend and thicken. I have also settled on the front as seen below. View of the twisted dead wood.... Or will be dead in the future!! And pic of the root spread
Will give this one a tidy and full wire out once we get into spring otherwise that's about it other than light feed and water until then.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Thanks, will update once wired up, although I have a feeling it will be a while before i get to have a crack at creating the deadwood areas.
Also the cuttings I made survived, now have about a dozen cuttings which will go into the ground.
