[Neli] Melaleuka
• Species name Melaleuka
• Original height of stock 100cm
• Where you obtained it from: Bought it today from the rose garden
• Cost of stock: $6
As if I did not post enough entries...I went shopping today again....But I fear I have already killed some of my entries before the competition started, due to time of digging them out...wrong season.
At list this one can stay in the packet till spring.

Re: [Neli] Melaleuka
Hi Neli, I like this trunk line (green). It would need to cut back to induce back budding on the new leader though.
Would have to know what this species is to know if it will back bud...What species is it?
It was 1 meter, how tall is it now that you chopped it back?
Also the pic I chose for the proposed trunk line is not the front...you would need to play with that.
Anyway my suggestion is just that...a suggestion. It is obviously your tree and it will be good to see you develop it over the course of the comp. Best of luck!
Cheers, Dario.

Re: [Neli] Melaleuka
It is now 20cm Dario. I have not been getting any notifications of late with the shift...found this by accident. I want to make it weeping style...But you have a point....I considered that and shall consider it again. At the moment I tied that branch and I am trying to bend it upwards...it was going downwards...Due to the short time of the competition, I am not sure if I will manage. This style...weeping can manage with this type of trunk...tapper is not so vital in weeping style. If you look on the picture it is tied with wire...because I am considering it anyway, but what worries me it is too thin and I will not manage to make it high enough thick enough and with tapper in the alloted time...so I am styling them both independently so I can decide at a letter stage which one to keep and which one to chop.
JMHP...but not 100% sure,
This melaleuka back buds very easy.

Re: [Neli] Melaleuka
Just imagine Dario, all my notifications were going into the spam folder...and it is hidden in Gmail....way bellow in another folder.
Look at the top most picture...see the branch you are talking about...it is at right angle to the trunk...and it is not very bendable...though I am trying...it will not make a very good leader if I dont manage to bend it.I also replanted the plant...changed the potting angle drastically, as a result that branch is pointing even more down now.
Thank You!

Re: [Neli] Melaleuka
Hi Neli, I was mainly looking at the post trunk chop pics re my suggestion. Now that I look more carefully at the first two pics, it is hard to work out.
Look forward to see the new trunk line after your recent repotting.
Cheers, Dario.

Re: [Neli] Melaleuka
It was too heavy to lift so I wired it where it was. I want to make it weeping style but honestly speaking have no idea how to do it. I was just rushing to update, and will need to sit and think what to do later. Just bent the branches in the general direction for now and tried to position them at different heights all around.
