• Species name Ficus

• Where you obtained it from: Bought it today from the Rose garden
• Cost of stock$3.50
At list there is not enough time to kill this one before the competition starts, so I can compete for at list few days.

Re: [Neli] Ficus
I first trunk chopped it. Then bare rooted it and planted it in sand to recover. Soon it will go in a large pot. Style will depend on where I get back budding.
Removed the tap root and more than 50% of the roots. The remaining roots arranged into radial fashion to start creating the nebari.Reduced the foliage also by more than 50% and put it in the shade.

Re: [Neli] Ficus
Started branch development...but I think somewhat late.
Carved some parts of the top. Plan to have it open umbrella canopy.

Re: [Neli] Ficus
Thanks Ken. Does it have to be shifted? It is still in the disqualified entries.

Re: [Neli] Ficus
Hi Neli,
I see a different tree in this particularly with a change of planting angle. Food for thought!!!
Will be a cracka if you can keep it going. Is it going into a bonsai pot before comps end?

Re: [Neli] Ficus
Thanks Squiz!
Kind of you to advise. This fig has huge roots...I started cutting them short one by one... Figs are easy so I shall make a cement pot for it before the end. He he he! Me and my cement pots.
I am going to look at it again and see how it will look if I change planting angle.

Re: [Neli] Ficus
I repotted it today, and root reduced it hard.
He he he! I can not stop laughing! I was so absent minded, repotting many plants...and my parrot busy trimming them for me, that I potted the front to the side of the pot... But it does not look too bad...What do you think?
This is how it was potted in one of my DIY cement pots

Re: [Neli] Ficus
The tree was trunk chopped and repotted in a DIY cement pot.
Lots of wiring and escape branches were used.
There are still branches that need to be removed...like the lowest branch...and some in the canopy, but I want to use them in the future to fatten selective parts of the tree.
No leaf reduction was done yet.
Work was done on the nebari, large roots were removed or shortened to 1-2 cm.
Pad definition
ramification
wound healing and some carving on the trunk.
Possibly shortening the second section of the trunk and starting over with the apex area.
Removing sacrifice branches after thickening has been achieved
Leaf reduction.
