In the last 18 months or so this has really powered on and that means it gets another showing in this comp.
It is currently about 25 cm from pot to top and is in need of a good trim.

A quick update on this one. Like my other Banksia I have been pleased with the growth, but they are a bit awkward to get ramification, but time will tell. It is just a little "fuller" than the last photo but that will change sometime in late spring.

I have to confess that I haven't done anything to this for a while, but soon I will, promise.
This photo is of the current back but I am thinking that this might make a better viewing side, but that decision will be made when the next round of work starts.

This did get a good trim and some branch placement after the last photo. From my experience this particular variety takes wiring OK and there have been no ill effects - but I haven't pushed it too far.
A little flower this coming spring/summer would be nice though!

This has had a "thinning" and a bit of wire. My current goal is to "fix" the inverse taper and that plan is on the way and appears to me to be working, but only time will tell.
When Steven runs this comp in 2020 and there is no inverse taper I will let you know how I did it. Of course if I fail I will keep my mouth closed.
The foliage colour is quite nice at the moment so I am pleased with that.

That's a beaut little banksia Watto, so glad I've managed to catch it this time around! I have one of these and am constantly wondering what I have to do with it, since its growth habit is confounding me. I can see I need to keep working it harder than I have been! Thanks for sharing, and I hope you let us know how you get rid of the reverse taper too. :)

While I'm on a roll thought a new photo of this one would be appropriate as well. This poor tree took a beating during our extremely cold winter (coldest for 38 years I think where I live) and is slow in recovering. The big frosts "burnt" the outer floiage but I am confident it will be back
