[Sno] Juniperus Squamata prostrate

Post by Sno »

This tree and I go back a long way . About 20 years ago I landscaped a mates house and this was one of the landscape plants . 10 years ago she knocked down the govy house to rebuild a more modern house and at the time I dug this one up among others with the intention of replanting after the build . About 5 years ago this juni was still in a 18 inch pot and looking very sad and neglected . So I brought it home and after getting it healthy I have slowly been reducing the rootball . It's time I did something with it and this comp will give me the incentive to do it . The height is 180mm . The monetary cost is lost in time but probably originally under $20 .

Big trunk on that little juni, should give you plenty of room for some nice deadwood

Haven't done much to this tree ,I started work on the deadwood still away to go yet . It's looking really healthy so maybe time for some heavy pruning .

Not much has changed since the last update . The tree is healthy and the branches I kept are progressing nicely . There is one branch I would like to remove but I am not sure of its relationship to the live veins running up the main trunk . I have three branches and three growth points from the roots leading up to those branches . At this stage it's a bit ambiguous to work out what goes where .

Nearly forgot this one . This one has gone on holiday to my neighbors place across the valley . My neighbor has a underutilized glasshouse and is letting me overwinter trees in it . He lives on the north side so he gets heaps of winter sun . I'm using it for the trees that have had a fair bit of work done in the summer and need a soft winter .

You know your hobby has got out of hand when you start stashing trees at your neighbors . :palm:

Thank goodness he has an under-utilised greenhouse for you to use. :)

Looking good!

Still a way to go with this one . It has been long term project to get it into this pot so I'm happy at this stage . The growth needs to gel with the heavy trunk still. The trunk is thicker than my wrist . One of the back branches is a bit weak from the repot so it's just rest for the foreseeable future . This ones getting a bit tall at 20cm
