[matlea]buxus harlandii
Given the beautiful weather we are having I took the opportunity to make a start on this one. Basically just cleaned out the branches I wasn't going to use and wired the main structure. Will chop back a bit harder once the weather warms up.
Proposed front Could also use this for a more compact outline

I love the proposed front! What's the nebari looking like under that top soil?

I love these trees! Can't wait to see it with the branches filled out a bit more. I really like the design in the first image.

[matlea]buxus harlandii
This one is starting to push new growth. I have carefully rubbed/ picked the excess buds from the trunk... Not wanting to take the corky bark off at the same time! Will let go for a bit then trim back again. Will also have to see what's going on below at some point.... Hopefully there is something decent to work with.

Re: [matlea]buxus harlandii
Just letting it grow and removing buds on the trunk as they appear.
It did get hit by some hot weather recently, particularly hot afternoon sun, so have placed in a spot where it gets morning sun and afternoon shade.

Re: [matlea]buxus harlandii
Quick update on this one.....it’s still alive.
Just been clip and growing. Will need a repot it before next spring as one growing season has filled the pot with roots which you can see is pushing it up out of the pot.
Using sphagnum moss on the surface to give the roots some protection, and added moisture given the pot size.
