I repotted this one out of the ideal season (mid June) knowing that it would sulk (and hoping it would live) cause I reduced the roots by about 95%. Now that the weather is warming up I'm happy to see it bursting with buds.

My leader has died back to the trunk which will really set the development of this one back. I think I'll need an extra year to get this one looking good.

Unfortunately, due to the leader dying and there not being anything in a decent position to take over, I don't see a bright future in this one for this comp. It's a shame cause the trunk has great movement.

That's a shame! I can still see a grin in the bark though, so hopefully the tree will have a nice surprise for you in the future!

Something got in under the bark and had a feast. This one's not looking like it's a contender for the competition.
