Hey all, this is my first post after a long time reading. I live in a very hot climate and recently have had consistent 40 plus degree days. I have been trying to keep my juniper and black pine cool but am unsure if im over watering or if this is head stress. Please, any advice would be much appreciated.

My guess is sun burn by having it in the shade and then putting it out in full sun

My shimpakus are currently shedding inner needles which I believe is from being dry or hot or both as it i almost impossible to overwater with the really open mix I use.

Most likely heat stress. A lot conifers will shed their inner needles to keep cool and conserve moisture. The outer needles protect the trunk from dehydration. It’s a bit of a juggling act. If you have a look at plants that are out in the ground, exposed to the elements, inspect the inner part of the plant you’ll find a lot of dried out needles
