Bit of spring action . I love this dwarf cherry tree with its zig zag growth and abundant flowers . small flowers/ small leaves .

I saw that variety in a nursery once and I really wanted one for bonsai but it was so expensive. They look perfect for bonsai to me, close nodes and the zigzagging and black twigs.

Agree they are not cheap for sure . I think if you could layer successfully the would be a fantastic shohin candidate . The flowers and leaves are perfect for bonsai and the close nodes also . It would just getting it to go on its own roots

They air layer well and grow on their own roots without any problem.

I went to Conifer Gardens and saw one a Kojo-No-Mai there, ugly graft as expected, but the price was prohibitive so i passed on it. At some point i might just accept it and buy one for air layering though, they are lovely.

Leptospermum rotundifolium. Currently just letting it grow but enjoying the flowers.

Very much a pre-bonsai but I picked up this lepto (pink cascade) from Bunnings a few months ago and it's putting on a bit of a show at the moment. Will cut back hard after flowering and see how it goes.

My Melaleuca rhaphiophylla is now in full flower, it's in the front yard at the moment and you can smell it as you approach my gate.

Also below is a rather scruffy looking Pieris japonica. Well in need of a trim. Unfortunately a fair few of the flower buds were destroyed prior to opening, so the display of white flowers isn't what it could have been.

It's far from being a bonsai, but I do love the colours of this bougie. Even without the flower bracts the different leaves are pretty nice.
