Caterpillar,s friend or foe

Post by Ians1 »

Today’s I was clearing away some moss from the base of my Japanese white pine and found some for these critters
I removed all the ones I could find about a dozen or so
Do I need to spray something to stop them returning Image

Not sure what that is but I have a simple rule with unknown bugs.
"When in doubt take them out"

Yep, they're there to eat something so I'd be moving them along.

I think that’s a borer… it will eat the wood and kill the plant if you don’t control them… check the trunk for holes and rotten wood
