Greetings knowledgeable folk of ausbonsai.
I noticed these red pellets on the soil of one of my trees (a prunus americana if that bit of info helps) but couldn't find any evidence of what was causing them. I repotted the tree and gave it fresh soil, and they have appeared again. They are like mini grains of rice, maybe 2mm or so in length. I can see no evidence of boring insects, nor any other insect beside the odd bit of fungus gnat here and there in some of the pots that are due for repotting this year.
Has anyone come across this before? What is causing it and is it something to be concerned about?

Re: Sign of pests?
Thanks guys,
Would not have thought of that, and after a bit of googling it looks more like cockroach droppings than mouse droppings to me and I have seen the odd cockroach around recently
