Came back here to check back on all the great info. My mate Pol was around today and is adamant that these guys are eating his trees? Although not restricted to predatory the only thing of a plant that I can find they eat is the pollen and stamens.
Pol was calling them harlequin beetles which it seems do cause issues but we know they are Red And Blue Beeltes, Dicranolaius bellulus . Silly bugger even complained about my thriving lady bug colony.
I better email him some info
Is this good bad or ugly bug?

If you have aphids you will get ladybugs. they round them up for food for their young ones. We have these beetles to and they have never done any damage. I, also love those other beatles
