Bonsai club suggestions

I am looking at joining a bonsai club. I am looking for a club that focuses on Australian natives that has a really good newsletter, as I live a crazy busy life with work and kids, and wouldn't attend any meetings. So location is not a problem, although I live in western Sydney. Can I get recommendations on bonsai clubs that meet my criteria.
Thanks,
Matt

Hey Matt, the Vic Native Bonsai Club seems to be excellent - full transparency- I am not a member but that’s because I have two other clubs in the go but I know numerous folk at that club - very knowledgeable folk.

+1 for Vic Native if your focus is on Aussie natives.

I'm a member and also in Sydney so obviously can't attend meetings in person, but the club does a video for the meetings/demo/critique which is nice. Newsletter is good as well.

Im a member of the Canberra bonsai society and Vic Native Bonsai Club.

Obviously the Vic Native Bonsai Club focuses on natives but what i like about this club is that i can access the newsletter and video footage each month. They have an ok knowledge base of native species as well.

Im also a member of the cbs as I'm a local. They have a really good native species guide and other species guides like maples, pines etc. Cbs has the better newsletter. Knowledge base is pretty useful as well.

Good luck on deciding which club to join :tu:

Vic Native Club have set up to cater for more remote members. :tu:
Members have access to a good newsletter each month with reports and photos of the meeting activities as well as video of each presentation at the meetings so those of us who can't attend can see what's happening and learn more.
They are now working on a virtual show so all members can contribute photos of native bonsai. :worship:

I'm another remote member of the Vic Native Bonsai Club. From Brisbane, we get to see their videos and presentations, and it's only $15. You might not find any physical clubs holding meetings at this time, with the "Stay at home" situation, but you'll do well with just about every one of them in the Sydney area once they're all back in business.

Somehow didn’t realise remote membership was only $15 - looks like I’ll be joining my third club.

That might be for interstate members Mark. I vaguely recall that being the condition....

It does say interstate. I still pay the $25 local membership rate even though I am 300 Km away and so rarely get to meetings. I could probably get away with being a remote member but I'm happy to support the club with my extra $10.

Fair point - I will too. Given I waste $25 or more for cr@p, pox plants most months - $25 annual membership is more than reasonable. Plus I am pretty sure Victor would rip me a new one if I tried to $15Image... I really should go to the bl@@dy website and read the stuff for myself!

Given I jumped in and suggested VBC early - the irony of my lack of membership is not lost in me. Image
