Thought I would make a thread for anybody who attended the workshops over the weekend to post up their trees (if they want to)
I attended the Sunday masterclass with Ryan Neil and worked on 2 trees, a pine and a swamp cypress
Here is the before and after of each tree
pine before
After
Front Side Cypress Before After (repotted yesterday)
Front Side Hope you all enjoy, and I look forward to seeing the results of everybody's weekend

The pine is really very nice indeed... looks even better in real life. I like the repot on the swampie too, it’s a pretty unique one - Very cool. Awesome to meet you mate, it was a killer day!

Great thread.
Great workshop achievements! You had good material and Ryan got the best out of it.
The kind of day one remembers forever.

It definitely was a great weekend. I’m still away from home and will post the results of my work once I’m home. Good to meet you Kerrin and Ryan. And a huge thank you to Leigh, Sam and everyone else involved in the organising and running of the weekend

It was a great weekend. I did the Masterclass with Ryan on Friday. I'm pretty happy with the result. We improved on a few points for the tree and I learnt some things I didn't know.

Re: World bonsai masters workshop trees
Here's a shot of my Kobayashi JBP from my other thread after I gave it a repot today... the black plastic pot was just waaayyy too big, and the work that was performed at the workshop wasn't too scary in terms of foliage/branch reduction/stressful bends etc so I figured a repot would be fine. Would love to see what others did if they get a chance to post!

Re: World bonsai masters workshop trees
Funny you should mention it Kez, took a couple of photos of the pines I worked on over that weekend yesterday, fond memories!
Here they are ... managed to decandle both in Dec so they have had no work carried out since then. I'd say the new growth has all but hardened off now so I'll be looking to reduce shoots/clean up etc. in the near future - maybe a couple of weeks.
Hope you are well Kez, your trees are looking great!

These progressions are great to see - thanks for the continued updates. Very envious and how cool to post "Kobayashi' and "Ryan Neil" pines; Ryan's Ryan pine - confused yet. And Kerrin that Swampy's a gem in the making. That low, long branch hanging to the right ... in the direction of tree's angle... is going to make it magic.
Tending bonsai teaches me patience.

Re: World bonsai masters workshop trees
I'm thinking I may have shared these photos previously so apologies if I have, but not a bad idea to keep together. Hopefully the photos display in the correct order, but I'm sure you can get an idea.
I attended the Friday with Ryan with this Juniper. He suggested to turn it into a raft because most of the branches were on one side. On the Saturday I spent half a day building the custom box. Then on the Sunday I scraped the new underside and applied some hormone powder and squeezed it into the box. About two months ago I took off the wire because it was biting in a little. Hard to get a decent photo and I'd also like to bring it to a CBS meeting but it is bloody heavy, about 40 kg I'd guess. The price you pay for building a bulletproof box I guess.

Looking good!
The pine has really filled out nicely. From the original ‘after’ pic, I was thinking that it came out looking like a younger skinny teenager. But, with a bit of foliage weight and presumably a little thickening of the trunk, it is looking great. I guess that’s the benefit of trained eyes, they can see how a tree will look in a season or ten.
The swampy is special. Those corkscrew trunks can be a bit hit and miss, but it looks completely natural (not ‘completely’ natural, but not contrived, you know what I mean) and super interesting on yours. Also great to see a completely different approach to the species.
