Re: APaB 2021 in Canberra
Thanks LLK. I have been starved of bonsai "events" over the last 10 months or so and therefore I am really looking forward to having a look.
Of course that is dependent on being able to attend, coming from NSW is a problem at the moment.

Re: APaB 2021 in Canberra
Hi everyone
Well, this time next week, I'll (and possibly some of the exhibitors) be doing last minute prep for the 2021 APaB exhibition before heading into the ANBG to do the set-up.
It's looking to be another great display of Australian species developed as bonsai by CBS members. This year, we've suggesred that exhibitors explore how the historical traditions of bonsai and penjing are represented in Australia in 2021. We anticipate that there will be to displays that draw heavily on traditional presentation, and some that present new aproaches to the art.
Full details are on the website - www.cbs.org.au.
The event will be run under COVID conditions, so if you are visiting, please maintain social distancing, and make use of the hand sanitiser that will be available around the venues. There are limits on the number of people in each of the venues we are using, so please be patient if you are asked to wait a short while. You'll also need to register as you enter the venues, either through the 'Check-in CBR' app or by providing a name and contact number. If you haven't already done so, you may want to dowload the app ahead of time to make registering faster.
We hope to see you there.

Re: APaB 2021 in Canberra
I had a sneak peek at the trees yesterday and I think there are some spectacular trees that will be on display. Starts at 9:30 am today so be there or be square.

I think we all would be interested to see pictures, for those of us who couldn't travel, of the trees, and of what they thought was the greatest attribute of each one. For discussion, not critique

Watto: "I had a sneak peek at the trees yesterday and I think there are some spectacular trees that will be on display."
That was proved right.
Grant: "The show is great. I saw the most spectacular raft/forest/clump/water swept tree. Just FABULOUS."
O I wish I'd seen it!
Max: "I think we all would be interested to see pictures,"
I think so too. Usually Watto gives a nice pictorial report of Canberra shows, but not this time...
Keels, yesterday at 6.45 am: "Photo's are coming max.
Well, Max and I and many others are still waiting, but "Hope springs eternal in the human breast..."

Re: APaB 2021 in Canberra
Here is a few starters from yesterday.
I thought the quality of trees was the best so far but I was a bit "put off" by the number of trees that were leaning away form the viewers. Maybe its something new?

Thanks, Watto. Your other name is Oasis.
I amused myself by pickling out and enlarging some of the details in some of the exhibits.

Re: APaB 2021 in Canberra
Thanks for the photo uploads.
Not a big fan of the kitsch-y figurines.
That raft planting that Grant.B posted however ...well that really floats my boat!
