Dave, can you tell me what Ficus species it says on the cascaded ficus which is about 8th from the very top in the first set?

That smallest P. Afra is really nice. I'm not a fan of the more traditional bonsai styles, but it's definitely a tree that's just as worthy as any other. Great to see artists working it into more interesting shapes and angles than just the standard 3-branch-triangle.

Thanks Dave for sharing so many pics!

It says Ficus phillipensis..

I believe this species (whatever it is) is of the Ficus microcarpa group.. much like green island fig but with more elliptical/pointed leaves. Very similar but lends itself to cascade styles well.

I’m not sure about the phillipensis labelling - a visitor to the club once flagged it as that and people have been rolling with it..

Thanks Dave,

It's philippinensis which is a synonym for the accepted name F. Virgata. It looked like a Virgata but the namecard had too many letters.

These look very promising as a bonsai material. They seem to fruit even when small, not sure if the owner of this tree experiences this? Only thing is due to their growth habit they don't have a buttressed root system like some of their relatives. But grafting could be a wortwhile experiment.
