Gardening Australia 17 June 2022

Post by Leigh Taafe »

Don’t miss Costa visiting the NBPCA!

The NBPCA had a very special visit by Costa Georgiadis and his crew from Gardening Australia to film the Collection last year. We were amazed with Costa’s energy and enthusiasm and his willingness to greet every person that was watching on from the background.

Be sure to watch Gardening Australia this Friday 17 June at 7.30pm or Sunday at 1.30pm.

Missed the episode? Catch it on ABC iview: http://bit.ly/GardeningAustraliaiview
Cheers,
Leigh.

Heres a link to the segment on the Gardening Australia website. Down the bottom it also has a few links to other segments they have had on Bonsai.

Hi Leigh
What was that tree (maple?) with the reddish leaves in semi cascade? It looked very interesting but I didn't get much of a look.

Hi Mike

Hope you are well. Was it the one in this picture?
Chinese elm.jpg
If yes, this is a penjing Chinese elm from Hong Lin (Melbourne).
I can post a studio shot if so.

Here is a picture with no foliage. The best time to view the intricate ramification of branching.

That's my favourite tree in the collection - close second is Ted Poynton's Angophora.

The elm has fierce "dragon energy" - I don't know whether that's how the Chinese would describe it, but it's magnificent.

Oh Dear. The wave trunk is :palm:
Yes I know it's Chinese style but you can leave me out.
Let's see how we can improve it.
