On Monday March 24, 2014, Thor Beowulf, a PhD Candidate studying bonsai at the ANU, presented a rare, silk-bound limited edition (100 copies) book of Japanese bonsai titled “Bonsai – Beauty and Harmony: Masterpieces from the Seikoen Collection” to Leigh Taffe, Director of the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of the National Arboretum, Canberra. The author, Mr Tomio Yamada, is one of Japan’s most important bonsai masters and is chairman of the Japan Bonsai Artist’s Association. This is a generous and valuable gift, which he has only offered to similar international institutions such as The National Arboretum in Washington DC. Mr Taffe has acknowledge that this is a very significant addition to the NBPCA Library. Here are a couple of photos of the event.

Thankyou kindly for sharing! Didn't even know it was happening

That must be a very valuable book, in terms of both price and content :)

I would like to provide some clarification regarding this marvellous gift. This rare and valuable book was donated to the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia by the author, Mr Tomio Yamada, to mark the opening of the NBPCA in February 2013. I am sure Thor would want everyone to acknowledge Mr Yamada as the donor of this very generous gift.

"...Leigh Taffe, Director of the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of the National Arboretum, Canberra"
This should be "Leigh Taafe, Curator of the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia, the National Arboretum Canberra."
