Shohin stand
So there is a section stepping up to my bonsai garden that doesn't blend in well with the rest of the garden theme. The bare colour bond fence is a bit of an eyesore that has been left long overdue for a makeover. With some surplus materials left over from a recent reno job I thought it is a good time to naturalise the colour bond fence. Inspired by my good lady wife with her obsession of Chinese circular display shelf (she bought 3!!) I thought why not build another one to add to her collection and fix up that ugly fence at the same time.
One of our indoor display shelves - these are collect items from our recent Japan trip, some mame pots by Yoshiyuki Kawada on 2 mini display shelves and various shohin pots from Tokoname. Ordinary boring colour bond fence stepping up to bonsai garden Some prep works Timber cladding attached to fence. These are light weight composite cladding materials clip-on system. Amateur art work added to background Some shelves installed Finally... shohin display Some close up shots

Re: Shohin stand
Sensational work, really nicely executed. Very well done indeed!
In the blue darkening sky, the moon paints a pine tree.

hi Michael - these are merbau timber 150 x 40 x 1800. Scored these at a closed down timber yard auction a while back. The off cuts are used to make individual shohin stands in the photos.

Re: Shohin stand
Very nice. Personally I don't like bonsai benches that are too showy as they can draw the eye away from the bonsai. I believe bonsai benches should almost disappear. Some of the best bonsai are often displayed on benches that are just cinder blocks with a couple of wooden planks on top.
