New Pots

Inspired by Grant Bowie's work of making his own bonsai pots I had a try also. After attending at the Gold Coast Potters for ten weeks I have learned a great deal. I knew nothing about pottery to begin with, but have now finished or partially finished 9 pots. Several are still to be glazed and fired, but I do have some finished ones. I'm still learning the basics of building pots from slabs, but have enrolled again for next year so I can also learn to throw pots on a wheel.
I'm reasonably pleased with my efforts so far and here are three of my completed pots with trees in them. I hope to have quite a few more next year.

Thanks for sharing Frank, these look great - and they match the trees nicely. You and Watto are both inspiring me to (one day) give it a go myself.

During the last few weeks I have been busy glazing and getting pots fired that I had made before my sojourn in hospital. So now I have quite a few pots waiting for trees to be put in them in spring. Below are some more of my recent pots, sorry if they have appeared in some other thread, but I couldn't find them when I searched for them.

that 'Garden Wall' last pot is very nice and would be great with a very colourful deciduous tree

Well done. It must be very satisfying to be the artist for everything in the tree/pot package.

The pot with the juniper in it and the shohin pot are my favourites.

Thanks for sharing these.

Please note, I do not make pots!!! all the pots I have shown are Japanese in origin.

I do love them and have bought a lot for myself, especially small pots and semi cascade pots.
