Flash bench, congratulations.
However I think you need another one, or two, maybe three by the amount of stock I can see :?:

Looking good, and great use of a narrow, often wasted area on many blocks.

Really nice work.
I think the lower shelf will always be a problem. There is rarely enough light for trees to grow well on a lower level and given that your narrow space will already have limited direct sun I believe you will have problems with many species on that bench. Hopefully the next stages will have room to get those trees up into some better light. In my experience we all tend to add a few more trees and if the bench space is there it will get filled sooner or later so i am reluctant to even make lower levels here to remove that temptation.

Very nice job, good solid build. But I have to agree with shibui regarding the amount of light any trees on the lower shelves will receive. Maybe use the lower shelves for storage of pots and other items not affected by water dripping down from the top shelf.

Yes definitely agree, i thought at the time of the build that the shelf would be good at mid height for strength and stability, but it doesnt need it, i have plenty to store there so its not wasted...... stage 2 will be an extension of this shelf into the backyard with the shelf lower. Stay tuned :)

That's an awesome bench! You sure you don't need a DA for that?! Haha.

I say remove the pots from the middle shelf, and add some waterproof mats, would make for a great outdoor day bed!

Keen to see the next stages!!@

Looks great, fantastic use of space. Do you have the irrigation on a timer?
Can see this being very useful when you're away for a few days.

Definitely on timer. After many years and many many purchased timers, the b-hyve timer from bunnings is the best.... not that expensive and fully programmable with your iphone. It also integrates with weather apps so on rainy days it wont water. Highly recommendedImage

The lower shelf whilst not the best for plants, is definitely coming in handy for storage.Image
