Stand for kusamono pot

Post by thoglette »

Rough cut up a little piece of scrap jarrah as a stand for a little pot. About 5cm on a side

Sneak preview with its pot before I finish it off.
Still deciding whether to fill the flaws and go for a gloss finish or leave rougher and matt (e.g. wax)

Plant is a local weed: Winter Grass (supposedly Poa Annua)

I like the rough finish for that plant. :)

Much better as is. You might try oil, rather than wax, so it doesn't fill those cracks. I'd also try it on a sample of the wood, as rough-and-unfinished suits it very well.

Nice proportions as well. They don't always come off.

Oil on Jarrah will work well: I think you're right.

Thanks. In this case the proportions were there in the wood, I just had to avoid screwing it all up :-)
