Re: suiseki collection 01
Is the top one a stone, or a paperweight depicting the 'Eye of Mordor'?
Haha nice collection either way.
Cheers,
Pearcy.

Re: suiseki collection 01
I'd say the top one is a polished piece of quartz with an inter growth of either tourmaline or rutile.

Re: suiseki collection 01
Yes, the first one is polished quartz. It came from Jiangsu province in China. And I do used it as a paperweight sometimes The sight of it calms me down and makes me appreciate the beauty around me. That is also why I started collecting different suiseki stones five years ago. I will post some more later.

Re: suiseki collection 01
Hello, Peterb
The white one is made of tridacna, a type of organic gem.
In Buddhism, it is considered the seven treasures, the other six being: gold, silver, lapis, agate, coral and pearl.
In China, people believe that wearing accessories made of tridacna can bring good luck to career and love.
This one originally came from the South Sea, and was a gift for me about one year ago.
Diameter: 4 cm
Weight: 42 g
I showed it to my friends and one of them called it: the tear of the sea. I think it pretty good.
