I'm using this cement pipe end piece filled with fine gravel to position/etablish a cut line on my rock specimens so they have a flat base. Actually cutting on this line on a randomly shaped hard rock is another matter! This 20-plus cm specimen of red jasper will eventually be cut at about the gravel line.

Hi FF
I think if you were to paint the pipe ends black and leave the gravel in, it would be most acceptable and attractive most attractive, actually you might start a entire new wave of thinking
Cheers RodM

Hi fossil , what a beautiful rock , did you find it on one of your walkabouts . I like that idea of yours for drawing a cut line. I've just finished building myself a copy carver so that i can carve daiza without having to cut. I'll let you know how it works

Yes it's a recent find peterb but I can't take the credit for the idea for marking cutline which was based on a suiseki film saw online. Let me know how you go with your copy carver. Sounds like a great idea for those tricky daizas!
