What you on about? There was no romance, it was a fling, a one night stand. baahaaha.senseijames wrote:Thanks Graeme, SORRY too late but mate, as soon as I read your reply I threw the rock as far as I could into the paddock next door in the pitch black nite,
Thanks Amanda, i will make sure that I break up their romance and send them on their seperate way.

Re: Opinions needed
hi james,
lowering it might work, if you can get the rock to only show half of itself and the rest below pot level could work well, I still think B1 is the best veiw though, B3 is quite interesting to, but with B1 i think it has nice changes in textures and interest

Hi James, i dont really get into rocks but i think the whole idea is to view the rock as the centre piece, so a different pot/ tray, mounted on a really nice piece of wood or something like that. as it is your attention is drawn to both the rock and the pot.,, Craig

I wholeheartedly agree with Craig. Anyway, since you are you thinking of these rocks as "suiseki", James, and not just some stones that you like, I think it's worth having a look at the guidelines for their display. With high stones, you don't need to have a wide shallow tray, but a cup-like container still has to be suitable. I found this website of the Nippon Suiseki Association that allows you to view suiseki in 3D. See http://www.suiseki-assn.gr.jp/en/re ... urn false; They might give you some new ideas.
Good luck,
Lisa

Re: Opinions needed
Great rocks, good pot, competitive relationship like drunks shouting in a pub. And not in a good way.
Maybe put the rocks on something slight, or even carve some red gum to fit the base exactly.
And get a monster dragon cascade juniper for the pot.
If things get too stressful I'll look after them rocks for ya.....

Re: Opinions needed
Rock B, 1st view does it for me. Totally agree that it looks like Bodhidharma, or Buddha in general. Very ncie view Not sure of the rock in the pot though. I typically prefer to see rocks on stands/daiza(??) or trays

Re: Opinions needed
Thanks guys, I am in agreement with most of you after a long look and consideration, the pot and the rock just don't work, so I will look at other alternatives for placement of the rocks, what type of tree do you think I should put in the pot, the cascade Juniper sounds good GavinG, but I never seem to have any luck with Junipers, any other suggestions.

Re: Opinions needed
hi mate
good to see you have decided to put a tree in it, if you dont have any luck with juni then elm is a good option for the pot but it has to be a full cascade i reckon mate, the pot is pervect for a full cascade, semi wont work, and i dont think the upright works either, jmo
i would go elm, celtis, pine?(JBP grow well up here), fig (any sort), there would be even more species that would suit the pot but cant think right now.
cheers man

Yes. A full cascade will suit the dragon.
