If it's a crack-pot that rings your bell
And Penny's not ready to sell
Better ask Lynette
For here's a bet
Bloody Pat's not going to tell!

Re: The great Aussie bonsai limerick competition
I'm still tilting:-
Two goats of mine, 'Taipan' and 'Hearty',
decided to have a nice party
The tree branches low
They nibbled and so
One style is left now, LITERATI.
or else-
The weather here got so much rainier
I had to mix soil that is drainier
It turned out much fitter
with hard baked cat litter
I think the result is much brainier

Please! I must know when this competition ends, or I'll never stop posting in vain hope.
By the way, my imaginary friend's name has the accent on the 'a' and is pronounced GIVITARGO. I just thought that I must clarify that in case anyone wanted to make a rhyme with it.

Re: The great Aussie bonsai limerick competition
Well, it's been lovely to have a break! Bit of a short week off...... still, much refreshed now. What's more, there's someone out there spinning yarns.........
An entrant with verse, name of spinner
Is hitting the rhymes like a winner
But like it or not
He wont see the pot
It'll probably go to a grinner!
Sorry spinner, bit obscure (check out the smile on stymie's dial!)

I feel for me ol' mate, Spinner
It's true that he's not a grinner
But it may yet unfold
That in ways untold
He can still emerge a winner!

Re: The great Aussie bonsai limerick competition
It seems there's this fella named Stymie
Whose talent had somehow slipped by me
His quick turn of verse
Never bitter or terse
And his Bonsai make me think: "Corrr blimey!"

Re: The great Aussie bonsai limerick competition
Just to remind everyone;stymie wrote:Please! I must know when this competition ends, or I'll never stop posting in vain hope.
In the event that an international member does manage to win, then as an inaugural occasion the prize will freighted to them at no charge thanks to the generosity of one of our members here who wishes to remain anonymous.Steven wrote:Okay creative type people, get busy and post your limericks for a chance to win a fabulous price courtesy of Will at Island Bonsai.
The rules are simple... The limerick must be original/written by yourself and must relate in some way to Australian bonsai or its related arts.
Submissions will be accepted up to and including 31st July 2009. The winner will be chosen by Will_IslandBonsai, FlyBri, Gocny and myself (Steven) and will be notified by PM and a post in this topic.
One prize will be awarded and the winner can choose from a Tasmanian native deciduous beech (Nothogagus gunnii) in a 140mm pot or a Pat Kennedy bonsai pot. The chosen prize will be shipped to the winner courtesy of Island Bonsai. Please note: Due to quarantine restrictions, if the winner is from South Australia or Western Australia they will automatically receive the Pat Kennedy pot.
Not sure of how to put one together? Learn what a limerick is on Wikipedia.
P.S Bonus points may be awarded if you use the words 'Island Bonsai' and/or 'AusBonsai'
Keep on posting your limericks guy's and girls for a chance to win great prize. Plus by writing a funny limerick, you will be putting a smile on the face of everyone who reads it!
Good luck,
Steven

Re: The great Aussie bonsai limerick competition
This one was my first attempt, do you really want more?!
Will, would know if the tree that I hold,
is likely for bonsai, like I am told.
Ausbonsai was asked if anyone knew,
Nothogagus for Sydney, will it do?
But the souvenir seeds just didn't come up,
was it my fault, or the gift shop that sold me a pup!
Regards, AnneK

My favourite tree is the one I'm working on at any given time.
