[NATURAL] Callitris rhomboidea - Redsonic
I bought this tree in April this year from Indigiscapes native nursery at Capalaba. When I bought it, It was in a forestry tube and cost $2.50. All I have done with it is repotting.

Yes, it has. The two larger columellaris that I trunk chopped have grown back bushy rather than tall.

This little Callitris continues to impress with its growth rate. I chopped the top and wired up a new leader, and have been trying to control the apex to allow lower branches to grow.
From above:
Looking at these photos, I think the plant is crying out for some more development, so I will be a bit more conscientious with with its pruning going forward.

This tree seems to be thriving on neglect. It did get an autumn repot, and this spring I have chopped the top again and rewired a leader. The trunk is thickening slowly, and a little nice bark is beginning to form.

Looking very healthy Redsonic ,plenty of options in there. Looks like neglect is the answer. John.

Thanks John. Lots of options, but I have to make sure I am not getting too many shoots from one spot while I leave it to its own devices. I think it is time soon to thin it out aggressively & start to foster that sparse look that Callitris around here naturally get. I wasn't expecting this much foliage from a native pine!

Re: [NATURAL] Callitris rhomboidea - Redsonic
This tree has been powering away. About 4 weeks ago, I took off 2 low branches I had been growing as sacrifices for taper, and did another trunk chop, wired a new leader, and started to put some movement in the keeper branches:
I won't be repotting it until Spring, but am looking forward to doing some root work then, as the surface roots I can see aren't that great.

Re: [NATURAL] Callitris rhomboidea - Redsonic
I repotted this one about 10 days ago. The root growth below the soil was really nice; fine and dense, so I gave it quite a heavy root prune.
One branch I wired last Summer died back (I was too aggressive with the bends), so there are some heavy scars, and I am limited to only a few branches now, and 2 of them are almost bar branches.

Looks good. I repotted mine but it’s looking very much on the way to dead.

I had a look at your thread, Beano and there were some great suggestions from others for this species. I am now hoping that I didn't go too hard on the root prune.
Sorry to hear about yours dying; my other plant in this competition is struggling for life atm.
